I want to be a master tightrope walker;
Keep balance with grace and style,
Walk along division of shadow and light.
Cross out chaos with a straight line.

But as shadows move and hours pass,
And sun is crawling across the sky,
Acedia whispers
That all things must pass.

Life in a cell of daily routine;
They say the cell will teach you everything you need.
Everything that you need-
That you don't need what you need.

Hear the silence screaming
At the deaf and blind Sun.
Acedia's creeping across my mind.
It's like falling down a coal mine shaft.
Been running errands for the Devil inside.

As days go by,
And hours pass,
I fall and get up
In silence, in secret.
